Running two blogs is tough
March 25, 2008 – 2:50 pmNot only do you have to post twice as much, it is kinda a pain to get the relevant topics to each blog. Then I get an idea for a post I really like and I’m torn which blog to put it on. I want to put it on the Life & Times because I’ve got pretty good readership, but I also want to get the fi-linx blog up and running so I end up putting it there. But it doesn’t have the readership so then I’m left doing the old double post, which I hate. So this time I’m just going to say that I put something on the fi-linx blog that I want everyone to read rather than just double posting and making it look like I’m just running two of the same blog. I just came to the same conclusion in trying to run our Currency blog and our Cuckoo blog myself. I posted about this last week. I finally gave up and Nala from our office is going to take over the Cuckoo blog.

That’s the direction I think I may be moving too. Get more contributors to the company blog, in addition to myself, and continue to use cuemployee as my personal one.

I feel your pain, Robbie. I’m working on coming up with more content for our blog at work but am also looking to get a personal blog started as well. It seems that it takes enough of my time to go out and read/comment on the industry blogs, let alone write posts of my own!

It seems to me that “Life and Times” is a good place for your random thoughts and the good ideas and musings you seem to have, while the fi-linx blog would be more customer-centered. There you want to get out your message and learn from your customers. I mean…would you really be able to put-up a post entitled, “Do strippers strip at home?” on the fi-linx blog? Keep up the good work, Robbie. And let’s try to have to lunch next month.

Yeah, the stripper post probably would not have made it onto the fi-linx blog. But you are right, the fi-linx blog can be way more customer focused.

I tried to go to the other blog, but the link doesn’t appear to be working.
Anyway, I have been able to manage the work blog and site, but personal time leaves my other projects unfinished.
24 hours a day is just not enough.

@ CD Rates - Thanks for the heads up on the other link. We’ve been monkeying around with DNS and some of our servers. The problem has been resolved and hopefully the DNS will replicate soon.
